Janis Joplin's powerful, intense vocal made her one of the greatest female rock singers of the 60’s. Joplin has been accredited with redefining the role of women within rock. Joplin moved to LA from Texas in 1966 & became the lead sing of the band Big Brother Holding Company. Janis Joplin left them in 1968 to follow a solo career.
